ᐅ Fill garden torch with cooking oil????

Hello, I couldn’t find anything about this through a Google search. Maybe you can help. Is it possible to use regular classic bamboo garden torches with cooking oils like rapeseed oil as an alternative? Best regards, Steffi33

In principle, you can use rapeseed or sunflower oil. I have no idea if or how much soot or smell they produce. But they do burn.

Why do you want to do that?

On one hand, I have leftover oil from a deep fryer, and on the other hand, I find it unsettling when conventional lamp oil carries various safety warnings.

It will obviously smell like a fast-food stand and probably produce more soot, so it’s not a good idea to have a torch near the wall. I’m not sure if it’s safe to mix in any scented oil.

Just try it with one. The worst that can happen is that it gets damaged.
