I am new to the forum. My name is Christoph, I’m from Upper Austria, and I live in my parents’ house, which I will inherit someday.
I have set up a small kitchen-living area in my sister’s former bedroom. The dining table is placed in a recess that is about 1.2 m (4 feet) deep and 2.1 m (7 feet) wide, with a ceiling height of 2.5 m (8 feet 2 inches).
The problem is that the further back you sit in the recess near the wall, the more the space echoes. This is especially noticeable when someone has a deeper, louder voice.
What options are there to reduce this? I have already considered installing sound-absorbing panels on the ceiling. Would that help? If so, are there affordable options available on the market, or could I make them myself given my skills as a master locksmith?
Thanks in advance, and feel free to ask if you need any more information.
Best regards, Christoph
