Hello,
we are currently planning our house and are now dealing with the topic of fall protection for the windows. The builder wants to install them on the front of the window reveals rather than inside, claiming that this is the only way to do it with aerated concrete.
I don’t find this visually appealing and have also seen construction sites where the fall protection is mounted inside the reveals despite using aerated concrete.
I already called Ytong and the lady told me that it depends on the anchors and how much space is available inside the reveals.
Does anyone have experience with the appropriate anchors and has already installed fall protection in aerated concrete?
Does the builder need to consider anything specific during construction, for example, setting the windows further back than usual for this type of installation? I just don’t want to realize too late that there is a problem.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Baufish,

there are also special anchors for aerated concrete that can hold quite a load.
I have the same type of masonry myself, and you definitely need to be careful about which anchor you use.

Great, thanks for the tip! It’s really awesome that there’s something suitable available 🙂
