Hello, I have a question, or maybe two 🙂

It’s about the exterior facade. We have a townhouse with half brick and half render.

For those of you with rendered facades, which type of render did you choose?

And second question, can a painter properly apply exterior render, or is it better to leave this work to a specialized rendering contractor?

Thanks in advance!

It depends on the plaster – we have a mineral premium scratch plaster on the extensions (the rest is brick). Usually, a painter cannot apply this; only a plasterer can. It is more expensive, but it lasts much longer and is not painted. Normally, it also does not develop algae – without using any chemicals 😉

For a standard trowel plaster, the painter is responsible, but with all its disadvantages...

Thank you for your response. The situation is that we are building a (semi) turnkey house. All exterior trades are handled by the general contractor (GC), while the entire interior finishing is either subcontracted or done as self-performed work. When I asked the GC about the exterior plastering, he told me that he contacts both a plastering company and a painting company, then assigns the job to one of them. However, he couldn’t specify the type of plaster they would use. Recently, I found out by chance that he awarded the job to a painting company. Now, I’m not sure whether to trust him or to intervene and insist that a plastering company be hired. I was planning to ask him again what exactly they intend to install.

First, you would need to know what you want 😉

That’s exactly why this thread exists 🙂
Why did you choose the mineral fine scratch render? There is also the option of organic render.
