we are currently deciding on a facade color and are having some difficulties.
First, a brief overview of our house:
Window color: Anthracite RAL 7016
Wall construction: 36.5 cm (14 inches) aerated concrete; no external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS)
Exterior plaster: Two-layer mineral-based exterior plaster with full-surface reinforcement mesh, consisting of lime-cement base coat and topcoat.
Base area: Formation of a house base with a base felt plaster (dark gray/anthracite)
Coating: Two coats of silicone resin paint in white. In the area of the bay window (ground floor 6.4 m x 1 m (21 feet x 3 feet)) and on one wall (1 m x 5 m (3 feet x 16 feet)), painted in gray/dark gray. (see pictures, where the color accent is shown as light gray)
Our idea was to design the house with two colors and to paint the bay window / one wall in the same dark gray/anthracite as the base area, avoiding the use of a third color (gray/light gray).
In discussions with our general contractor / painter, we gathered that this is possible but more complicated (a different plaster system is needed to prevent efflorescence) and therefore rather undesirable.
Has anyone had experience with this? How does it affect heating during summer? Does the color fade over time?
Could there be any problems?
Thank you very much for your support!
Best regards,
Sushi
