JayneCobb15 Oct 2023 16:08Hello everyone,
we are currently building a single-family house.
The one-time exterior painting is included in our contract and was completed last Friday. The plasterer offered us a second coat.
The only advantage, as we understand it, is that we would not need to repaint after 5 to 7 years, but later on.
The paint used is a Caparol silicone resin-based paint (white with a slight gray trim as a visual separation at the garage), and the cost is about 2500 euros net.
What has been your experience? Is it worth it?
Thanks in advance!

WilderSueden16 Oct 2023 08:41We had the exterior painted twice. I’m not very motivated to renovate a deteriorated facade after 5 years.

KarstenausNRW16 Oct 2023 08:53Applying two coats of paint makes sense.
However, I don’t understand why someone would paint a mineral-based plaster with such a crappy silicone resin paint. It just doesn’t make sense to me...

Pinkiponk16 Oct 2023 09:21This was neither offered nor discussed with us (prefabricated house using a timber frame construction). I don't even know how often it was painted. I probably should have looked into that.

JayneCobb16 Oct 2023 19:00Thank you all!
We have now decided on that.
What exactly would be the problem with that?
A brief explanation would be helpful for non-experts…
In any case, I discussed this with the plasterer.
He said the paint is well suited for mineral plaster. It only contains 4-5% silicone, but that’s why it has to be called silicone resin paint.
