ᐅ Facade Paint – No Agreement in Sight...

Good evening everyone,
my husband and I have been discussing for some time now which color our house’s exterior should be. It is a single-story house with a (converted) pitched roof, with the eaves side facing the street. The options are:
1. “Standard new build color combination”: roof, windows (and front door) anthracite, facade white
2. Roof anthracite, windows (and front door) white, facade gray. Similar to the example shown (found on the Pinterest page of Contract Vario)

House with dark tiled roof, solar panel, gray facade, wooden terrace, and garden furniture.

Here are the advantages I identified for both options:
1: More premium appearance?
Standard look, generally preferred? – Higher resale value?
Dark front door less prone to showing dirt
2: Cheaper (white windows cost us about 20% less)
Facade may appear cleaner for longer?
Windows don’t heat up as much (popping/cracking – which we experienced in our last house with dark windows)
More eye-catching look

What are your thoughts?

Joker. The photos mostly look familiar to me, but I meant specifically those miter joint details. I already know how houses with windows look.

You can see it in the picture of the front door. The corners are mitered. For real wooden windows and doors, they are not made with miter joints but are straight-cut.

I’m also wishing for light wood finishes for the windows and patio doors and hope the extra cost stays reasonable. In any case, I’m already looking forward to having to clean the window frames less often.

Unfortunately, the anthracite foil finish came with a significantly higher additional cost.

We have windows from ALUPLAST with the Sheffield Oak light finish. If you don’t know, you wouldn’t notice it. Experts only spot it by the mitered corners.

The facade colors are from Farrow & Ball: “Jitney” (a sand tone) and “De Nimes” (a rather dark blue-gray). Roof tiles are Braas Tegalit in granite.

Are Aluplast windows well known throughout Germany? How are they priced there? Affordable?
Okay, you just answered that question. What exactly does “significantly more expensive” mean? If the white window costs xx, how much did the “wood-look window” cost?

The two exterior colors sound nice. Do you perhaps have a sample photo of your house showing how it will look?

For the front door, we also have options with artificial wood finish available. Does anyone know how that compares to a real wooden door?

Visually? I wouldn’t like an artificial wood appearance on a large door panel; it would probably look strange. I have seen genuine oak doors, and they look really good.

Best regards,
Sabine

It doesn’t have to, an aluminum door can also have a wood infill.

I just tried a window configurator on Google. (I’m not posting the link here as it might not be allowed. I can send it by message if that works.) In this configurator, the price difference per window between white and various wood finishes (birch, oak, Douglas fir, and more), or other colors like blue, green, etc., is 30.00 euros.

Aluplast is widely available.
Rehau also offers a very extensive color range, available as foil, paint, or cladding shells.
