ᐅ Facade Paint – No Agreement in Sight...

Good evening everyone,
my husband and I have been discussing for some time now which color our house’s exterior should be. It is a single-story house with a (converted) pitched roof, with the eaves side facing the street. The options are:
1. “Standard new build color combination”: roof, windows (and front door) anthracite, facade white
2. Roof anthracite, windows (and front door) white, facade gray. Similar to the example shown (found on the Pinterest page of Contract Vario)

House with dark tiled roof, solar panel, gray facade, wooden terrace, and garden furniture.

Here are the advantages I identified for both options:
1: More premium appearance?
Standard look, generally preferred? – Higher resale value?
Dark front door less prone to showing dirt
2: Cheaper (white windows cost us about 20% less)
Facade may appear cleaner for longer?
Windows don’t heat up as much (popping/cracking – which we experienced in our last house with dark windows)
More eye-catching look

What are your thoughts?

Wood is certainly a beautiful natural material, but compared to an aluminum door, it requires maintenance every few years and is more vulnerable to weather conditions (sun, rain, etc.).

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t choose a wooden door, I just wanted to mention this. I also find almost all of them very stylish.

I feel the same way.... I love wood too.

To be honest, my choice would be different. If I were to go with the budget option, I would choose white windows, a white door, a gray facade, and a dark base. Blinds and other elements would add the accents. However, if I were willing to spend money to treat myself to something special, I would move away from the white and gray. That look has become as commonplace aesthetically as silver metallic once was for cars or refrigerators. There are PVC windows with very well-made wood-effect foil, even textured. The combination of red and anthracite also works. For one of the buildings managed by our administration, we have a white house with a red roof featuring an entrance clad with fiber cement boards from 2018 that are asbestos-free, designed to resemble slate, as an accent. So, if cost is no object, it would have to be something special for me.

But one should never forget, most of the time I’m inside the house. From the inside, none of it really matters.

Exactly, you’re right.
It’s hard to find the right balance. We don’t want something completely ordinary and boring, but at the same time it shouldn’t be so extravagant that it becomes difficult to sell.
I understand your feedback as saying that with a white facade and dark windows, you can’t really go wrong, since most people find it at least acceptable or appealing. It will be hard to convince my husband otherwise on this point. I also have to give him credit for being very flexible when it came to the flooring and kitchen. I think I’ll grant him this wish and negotiate something else in my favor elsewhere.
Besides, the front yard will still be landscaped, so it won’t look so dull then.

I'm too impatient and not skilled with the facade configurator, so unfortunately I only have a white facade.

Does this example image actually show your house now?

A wooden front door is rated a seven, whereas an aluminum front door is rated only a five — just as a rough guideline.

Yes, this time it’s our house, although it doesn’t look like this yet. We played around with a configurator over the weekend. However, it didn’t cooperate very well, so there is only one color combination...

Then why not add a current photo as well?
