Hey

We are currently looking at how to arrange the waterproofing all around.
At the moment, we have a concrete slab (strip footings all around) with a horizontal waterproofing layer of bitumen membrane, and then the walls on top of that.
All around is plastered, including colored render; underneath, down to about 30cm (12 inches) below the slab, I now want to apply an insulating coating and a dimpled membrane. In front of that, later, there will be splash protection with gravel.

I’m a bit confused about the terrace window here.
Should the white area also be painted, and then a drainage channel placed in front of it? The window is fixed, so this really only concerns the best way to direct rainwater away.

Attached is a picture to show what I mean.

White sliding glass door in the wall opening; construction site floor made of soil and gravel in front.

But the window installer forgot something. This is not watertight against driving rain. You still need to add an EPDM membrane or something similar. Your gutter will then protect against standing and pressing water.

Ah thanks, then I will probably take care of that first.
