Hello everyone,
I live in a farmhouse where, over the years, I have made the second floor habitable. Now I have the problem that I have no idea how to insulate the walls from the outside.
Currently, the walls are built with calcium silicate blocks and are not insulated on the outside. I thought about attaching polystyrene foam panels, but these are not breathable, which could lead to mold forming quickly in such an old house. Does anyone have other ideas on how I can make my walls warmer?
By the way, I was thinking about mineral wool boards... but so far I’ve only found ones designed for facades, which are considerably more expensive than glass wool alone. Also, I’m not keen on screwing 100mm (4 inches) beams onto every wall — that would be a huge effort for the size of the house.
I’m very grateful for any information,
Regards,
Snot
