Hello everyone,

Although I have seen a similar question below, I still have a related one.
My wife and I are currently planning our new home (energy saving regulations) and we are considering:
Option 1: Brick wall 36.5cm (14 inches) without insulation
Option 2: Brick wall 17.5cm (7 inches) + 16cm (6 inches) external insulation system + 2cm (1 inch) exterior plaster

We want to install a large heat pump with a photovoltaic system, and we are wondering what the concrete differences between these two wall systems are.
We have heard things like:
Option 1 is more durable but tends to crack faster.
Option 2 is cheaper, cracks less quickly, but would be pointless for solid masonry houses.

Unfortunately, we are not construction experts ourselves and are now quite uncertain. Allegedly, with our heat pump, both wall systems should work.

Best regards,
Jesfreric
