We are currently building our end-terrace house. The shell is already up, and we are now working on the interior finishing.
Our neighboring house will be extended sometime this year, or at the latest next year, by a different builder. Originally, we planned to completely finish the exterior rendering of our terraced house as well. However, we are now considering whether it would make sense to apply only the base coat on the outside for now, and to do the top coat plus final paintwork possibly only after the neighboring house is finished, at the latest next year.
We are concerned that the new white paint might get damaged by all the construction work. What is your opinion or experience on this, and how would you approach it? Should we finish the rendering completely right away because the render won’t suffer, or wait with the top coat/final paint until the adjacent terraced house is completed (next year)? Thanks!

I would finish everything at once. Erecting scaffolding again is expensive, and who knows what you might already be able to do in the garden by then that could get in the way of the scaffolding. Besides, what if the neighbor only finishes the exterior in two or three years or even later?
