Olaf Mayer29 Mar 2017 07:44Hello,
For our new KfW55 bungalow, the exterior plastering is currently scheduled. The construction company wants to skip the reinforcement mesh. Is this correct for fiber-reinforced plaster? The color is anthracite.
The statements are as follows:
- Crack-prone areas (roller shutter boxes and parapets) will be reinforced directly on the plaster base (masonry) with reinforcement mortar and mesh.
- Additionally, areas with larger open joints will also be reinforced directly on the plaster base with reinforcement mortar and mesh. This is an extra measure beyond the standard regulations to provide additional safety in these zones.
- After that, the plaster is applied using fiber-reinforced lightweight base coat plaster (Knauf Super Lupp). This lightweight base coat plaster is one of the recommended and tested plasters by the manufacturer Xella for the masonry type PPW 2/0.35. (We can gladly ask Xella to send the recommendation list again by email if needed.)
- Full-surface mesh reinforcement (recommended in thin-layer rendering systems) is omitted for cost reasons, as it mainly serves to minimize surface tension in the plaster.
What would you recommend?
Best regards,
Olaf
