on our garage, the plaster is loose or peeling off in several places. In some areas, only the silicone resin plaster is coming off, but in others, the entire cement-lime plaster underneath is detaching. It seems that moisture has penetrated these spots, causing the plaster to come loose. The window is positioned so far forward in the wall that there is no window reveal. As a result, rainwater runs down the facade and directly over the plaster trim on the window frame.
Is it enough to remove the loose plaster before carrying out repairs? What steps should be followed during the renovation, and what should be considered to prevent the problem from recurring in a few years? How can the plaster edge around the window be designed to prevent any more moisture from entering? Apparently, the plaster trims were not sufficient.
