During the construction of our new house, light wells from ACO were installed for the basement windows right after the basement was completed.
Now, a few months later, the exterior plaster has been applied (so far, only the base coat).
The windows and all the wall/insulation areas inside the light wells were not plastered, with the explanation: "If the plaster is applied right up to the grate, removing the grate later will damage the plaster." It was said this gap is usually maintained.
Has anyone had similar experience or can confirm this statement?
For your information: The light wells are not yet fixed at their final height since the exterior landscaping is not finished, and the grate can be removed at any time anyway.
Thanks for your feedback.
