I would like to hear your experiences with electric external blinds. (See attachment)
In our new build, we have planned for electric aluminum roller shutters. Yesterday, we visited friends who have electric external blinds instead of roller shutters.
From a burglary protection point of view, I don’t really see roller shutters as effective. If a burglar wants to get in, they will do so despite roller shutters. Other security measures are needed for that.
With this in mind, we were very impressed by the blinds. First of all, they gave the house a completely different, more attractive appearance. Additionally, blinds are more flexible. You can fully raise or lower them, or adjust the amount of light entering depending on the sun exposure.
Now we are considering asking our builder (with whom we are doing a turnkey project including electric roller shutters) for a quote to see what it would cost to replace the roller shutters with external blinds.
What experiences do you have? Since we don’t want to incur additional costs, price is also important to us. Are blinds more expensive than roller shutters? We appreciate any advice!

at first, we planned to have roller shutters everywhere, but then we decided to install external venetian blinds (raffstores) on the south side. On our south side are the living/dining area, children’s room, and home office (upper floor). With external venetian blinds, you will never get the rooms completely dark.
The external venetian blinds cost slightly more in our case (but there are only 4 units). You just need to decide in time because the mason needs to know whether to install roller shutter boxes or raffstore boxes (cost is the same).
If the windows are not too large, you could also save money by using plastic roller shutters.
