Hello everyone,

I am currently facing the difficult decision of which material to choose for our windows. The options are either uPVC windows or uPVC windows with a colored aluminum cladding.

Our carpenter told me that if we want windows in RAL 7016, he would install the ones with the colored cladding because regular uPVC windows with a colored foil coating can heat up so much that the windows might warp.

Therefore, my question(s):

- Which option do you have or would you choose?
- If you have foil-coated uPVC windows, how long have you had them, and have you experienced any issues?
- Does anyone have experience with how much more expensive uPVC windows with cladding are compared to those without?

Thanks in advance.

We currently live in a house with mahogany windows. Over the past 10 years, three window units have been replaced with dark brown, mahogany-effect uPVC. These do not warp.

Probably because they are solid-colored throughout and not foiled?

I do not know that.

Using aluminum would be about 15-20% more expensive than using plastic, when comparing proper quality materials (and I wouldn’t bother with cheap plastic at all, let alone foil it). So I wonder, how much price difference would there still be with plastic covered by aluminum cladding (or looked at the other way around, aluminum with a plastic core), and do you still consider that “worth it”?

Car advertising wrap specialists offer a 3-year warranty on full-surface wraps – a short period for a window. There are no metal-colored granulates available, neither solid nor as a foil. Therefore, I don’t trust the weather resistance, abrasion resistance, or lightfastness of the surface in this case.
