Hello everyone,
For years, we have been eyeing the not only attractive but also comfortable chairs from Stressless. However, we have been hesitant to buy them due to their price. Still, we can’t stop dreaming about them, and at every furniture store visit, we somehow find ourselves sitting in those chairs again, just like last weekend.
This time, a very friendly saleswoman simply asked us if it really had to be Stressless. Of course not, I replied, as long as the quality and comfort are comparable. So, we walked straight over to two chairs from the manufacturer Conform and had the chance to “try them on.” And what can I say: we were absolutely thrilled!!
In our opinion, the chairs didn’t just look a little more attractive (even more appealing than the Stressless design, which we already like), but also surpassed the comfort of the Stressless chairs. We were, and still are, genuinely amazed, because over all those years we had not found any alternative to Stressless. It is also difficult to find alternatives online without entering a much more outrageous price range.
I also want to briefly explain why we feel they are even a bit better than Stressless. Once you find the right Stressless chair (it is very important to consider body size here, as there are huge differences if you happen to sit in the wrong one), you practically don’t want to get out of it—it really offers heavenly comfort. Still, as a person taller than 1.90 meters (6 ft 3 in), I experienced some limitations, especially with the headrest. The reclining position for dozing was great, but when wanting to watch TV, I had the same problem with all models: my head was no longer properly supported in the back and almost resting on top, and even adjusting the headrest tilt was not enough to support my head comfortably in every situation. This is where the Conform chair scored full points. The headrest could be adjusted in every direction as desired, and even when sitting upright I could tilt it so my head was comfortably supported.
Another big plus was the adjustment mechanism. With Stressless, you move the chair with (I’ll say carefully) momentum, meaning with muscle power. It should not be too heavy to move, but also not too light, otherwise the position constantly changes; Stressless has managed this balance quite well. With Conform, you also use your own strength, but you pull a small lever on the side of the chair (which can usually be seen in product photos). Although it might look nicer without a lever, you quickly stop noticing it and really appreciate it because… it locks the chair in exactly the position you want. You can even shift slightly without changing the shape. Another advantage of this lever, which I discovered during the showroom visit, is that even minimal changes in position (just a few millimeters less reclined or more) feel like a completely different adjustment—each time as satisfying as moving to the other side in bed. Really fantastic! (Hard to describe, but for example, Mercedes seems to have discovered this too, offering seats that adjust subtly during driving without you noticing, yet significantly reduce fatigue in older bones.)
We are genuinely impressed and finally planning to go for it—unless a big downside appears. In terms of price, they are also high in my opinion, but not quite as high as Stressless. In terms of quality, we found nothing negative in our short test; everything works very smoothly and feels very high-quality, with real wood and, like Stressless, very high-quality leather options.
I couldn’t find a single flaw… But since it’s impossible to judge durability during a brief showroom visit, here is my question to you:
Do you know this manufacturer? Do you perhaps already own such a chair?
There isn’t much information online, and the sales network is unfortunately not very easy to navigate. There is also no store locator, which makes trying them out in person really difficult (an inquiry is already in progress).
I would really appreciate your feedback and hope there is already at least one happy owner who can share their experience…
Best regards

Pitiglianio21 Feb 2022 16:30I can’t tell you anything about Conform, but I can share my experience with the Robas Lund armchair. It is priced in a lower range but, in my opinion, completely adequate. The Stressless armchairs are way overpriced, but apparently enough people can afford them. You could have a fundamental debate about that, but I’m not in the mood for it. 😉
