So either I’m completely clueless, or Ikea really messed up with this combination...

With Metod, the front panel is only attached using an angle bracket and a strange plastic part.

1. The plastic part has to be combined with a plastic ring, which causes the front panel to not be aligned vertically at all, but instead gradually sticks out from the cabinet at the top. It looks really bad...

2. The pulling forces when opening act solely on the plastic part, whose screws don’t even penetrate 5mm (0.2 inches) into the front panel. After opening a few times, it already gets a bit loose and will probably break out soon, ruining the front panel...

Does anyone else have this weird combination?

I am currently installing my stand pipes and am facing the same problem. I have now left out the black plastic rings, as even after careful consideration, I couldn’t understand their purpose, except that the front panel is not level at all.

At least now the front panel is vertical. How long the two screws holding the front will withstand the tension created when opening remains to be seen. Besides, these screws couldn’t be properly tightened anyway – seems to be intentional. 😕
