brueningt3 Sep 2024 16:47Hello everyone,
Last year, we completely renovated our house, built in 1995. We installed new flooring, painted, updated the kitchen, ceilings, bathrooms, and also had new interior doors fitted. We wanted white lacquered doors in a modern country style and chose doors from the company Ringo, model Sera 6. According to the product description, these have a "white lacquer surface (spray-painted)" finish. This quality description is also stated on our order confirmation and invoice.

The doors were delivered in September 2023 and installed by a professional in October 2023. There were no problems for the first 10 months, but about three weeks ago, the surface started to peel off on six doors.

We are not experts and cannot tell from the condition of the door whether it is lacquered or foil-coated. In our case, we believe that these doors are foil-coated and not, as ordered, spray-painted.
After discovering the defects, we filed a complaint with our dealer.
Today, a representative from Ringo visited us. Unfortunately, his approach was anything but professional.
1. He did not know when the doors were installed and assumed it was several years ago – poor preparation.
2. He could not tell us the surface quality of our doors – poor knowledge of his own product range.
3. He was unable (or unwilling) to discuss the ordered quality versus the delivered one – “I need to check the order confirmation.”
4. There was no acknowledgment of our complaint – he measured the room humidity (guest bathroom).
Humidity was 62%, a normal value given today’s outside temperature of 28°C (82°F) and an average outdoor humidity of 79%.
The representative stated, “Our installation instructions say the doors must not be installed where humidity exceeds 60%. Therefore, we as the manufacturer are not liable!”
Does this mean Ringo doors should not be installed in areas with higher humidity? In Bavaria, for example, humidity is often high during summer – so are Ringo doors unsuitable?
I took the liberty of researching the optimal room humidity myself.

According to the above table, does that mean Ringo doors are not suitable as bathroom doors?
4. The claim that the door is “wavy,” which would be another sign of excess moisture – I checked the door with a long spirit level; no bulge, no gap, no warp, no dent.
Our house contains many solid wood furniture pieces, as well as solid, lacquered wood kitchen fronts and wooden floors. None of these items have shown any problems. Some furniture has been in the house for 25 years without any chipping or swelling. We have never had moisture issues in our home, and there is no mold.
Our impression of Ringo is that the customer is being blamed and the company is washing its hands of responsibility.
Based on the current situation, we cannot recommend Ringo.
We have now given the supplier until next Friday to provide a statement. We will keep you updated.

brueningt4 May 2025 11:24I have an update on our topic. The first doors have now been completely replaced free of charge. The cause of the surface issues was a manufacturing defect. The primer foil was not properly glued, meaning that in the areas where the surface came off, no adhesive was applied... The newly delivered doors are also damaged. On all doors, the upper edge along the border is damaged by one to two centimeters (about 0.4 to 0.8 inches), meaning the primer foil is torn. Let’s see how things develop. Our supplier is trying to get a refund from Ringo and then install doors from HGM (Park Lane).
Do you have any experience with these doors from HGM, model Parklane?
