Hello everyone

After purchasing a plot of land in Neuhofen, Rhineland-Palatinate, we would like to build an extension onto an existing semi-detached house.

We are now looking for a general contractor.
I would be very grateful for any experiences and advice you can share.

What was the outcome?

So far, we’ve had appointments with Weton and Town & Country.

Weton was great!!!
We expect to receive a final price in the next few days.
We were given a preliminary figure as a guideline, but that may still change.
The only downside was that the earliest possible move-in date would be autumn 2020.

We weren’t as impressed with Town & Country.

By the end of the month, we still have appointments with Kreativ Haus, Tremmel, Vierblock, and Roth Massivhaus.

By the way, the neighbor had their shell built by HEBERGER.
They handled almost everything else themselves.
I’ll keep you updated.

Hello,

So, who have you decided on? We are currently looking as well and have found Weton from Limburg. Now I am searching for any experiences.

Best regards,
dropss

Then try using the forum search. Regarding the regular posters, I think @Curly mentioned having built with them and being satisfied. I am not a homeowner myself, but I am very involved with construction companies and have a good impression of Weton.

We are also from the area and are looking for a suitable general contractor. I’m curious to hear how it went for you.

Sorry for the delay. My child had a fever yesterday, so I couldn’t get in touch.

Yes, we were looking for a general contractor (GC) here in the Palatinate region.
We had several appointments with different GCs. We read construction specifications day and night.
We wandered around various new development areas and talked to homeowners.
My conclusion is that there are quite different types of homeowners.
Some were so satisfied with a GC that they would build with them again, while another homeowner had a nightmare experience with the same GC.
Here are some of my experiences.

WETON Solid House (our first GC):
In my opinion, they build with very high quality.
Super friendly and nice. We felt very comfortable there. I believe if you build with Weton, you can’t go wrong.
We spoke with former homeowners. There was no criticism. According to them, problems were solved quickly and reliably.
What worked against Weton in our case was the price. It was simply too expensive for us.
We had set a financial limit, and it was exceeded.
We were not willing to compromise at all.

Roth Master Builder House:
This was our top favorite. Direct appointment with the architect. We felt more than comfortable.
Everything was planned out. We also spoke with former homeowners. Everyone was very satisfied!
The price was somewhat higher than Weton’s, but in my opinion, the quality was excellent.
The only reason we couldn’t work together was because they have so many orders that we would have had to wait too long.

Viebrockhouse:
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any more expensive, we had the appointment with Viebrockhouse.
I think they are quite good too. We often read that you have to consider the services included to justify the price.
I don’t agree, but that can be discussed. I also didn’t want to travel to Cologne or somewhere else for the selection appointment.

Kreativ Solid House Landau:
Price-performance ratio TOP!!!!!!! They put all the cards on the table— all the craftsmen, creditworthiness, a list of all completed projects.
It was within our budget and the services were really, very, very good.
My wife didn’t get along with them. We found the architect and the consultant quite unusual. But I would still recommend Kreativ.

Town & Country:
Didn’t fit with us. You can find enough information online.

Tremmel House Kaiserslautern:
A very strange story. I don’t want to say much more. Mr. Tremmel was very nice, though.
But the process until we got an appointment was quite odd.

Schneider Construction Otterstadt:
We couldn’t agree on the price.

Tri Immo Heidelberg:
I wouldn’t recommend.

Then also planning offices, smaller local GCs, developers, prefabricated house providers, etc.

In the end, we settled with Massivhaus Wonnegau.
We signed four weeks ago. The whole package fit.
We feel very comfortable there as well.
From my perspective, I would recommend them, but we’ll wait and see how the construction phase goes.

Best regards
