Hello everyone,

after you helped me so much with my kitchen, I’m now asking for advice about mattresses.

I need a new one. I don’t know much about what’s available, and I understand that I have to try everything out myself.

More importantly, I want to know if anyone uses an IKEA mattress and how satisfied you are with it.
I’m interested in the MATRAND series (latex or memory foam) and the MORGEDAL (latex). Is their durability good? What do you think of them?
I believe that if the recommendations vary a lot, having a range of opinions is actually a good thing.

We bought the MYRBACKA latex mattress, medium firmness, white..........
Well, I hope it’s good quality. Delivery is scheduled for August along with the new kitchen........
One important note: also replace the bed slats (slatted frame).

You need to be careful with the slatted bed base. The ones from IKEA are wider than others and might not fit in a non-IKEA bed frame.

The advantage of IKEA mattresses is that you can return them after a 3-month trial period.

There used to be a 25-year warranty on the mattresses, but that has been discontinued (at least in Germany). Maybe there were many complaints much earlier? This is just speculation.

Hi everyone,

I have a self-built loft bed, so the slatted frame isn’t really relevant—I just need a mattress.

Testing the mattress is interesting. What are the requirements for that (pun intended)? Have you tried it before, or what has your experience been if so?

Tomorrow we want to try going to Ikea to test some mattresses and get an idea of what direction to take.

In the past, the trial period for lying on the mattress was clearly limited to 3 months. Since the introduction of the unlimited return policy, you can theoretically try it out indefinitely. In practice, however, it usually won’t be that easy if a long time has passed. I once returned a mattress after 8 months. It was hardly used, and I had put it back into the plastic cover. The return process was straightforward. Usually, you only receive a credit card for returns. I have a family payment card. So far, it has always been possible to have the amount credited back to it.

There is no such thing as an "unlimited return policy." Still not.
So, it should come as no surprise if you try to exchange something and the exchange is refused.
I can quickly name 5 or 6 builders where you would be 100% turned away if you showed up with a worn-out mattress!
