Hello everyone!!

I have heard about heating with liquid gas.. Can anyone share their experiences with it? I would like to consider this option, but only if it is a good investment....

No matter how it is done, such a system must always be installed and maintained by a specialist.
Handling gas is always a sensitive matter and should be carefully monitored.

Hello Wurm!!

Of course, it must be installed and maintained by professionals, but based on your description, it’s not that bad either *lol* (don’t jump to the worst-case scenario).

For you personally, it’s maintenance-free; you just need to make sure you don’t run out of the fluid, nothing else. Having a service plan and maintenance intervals is clear, usually every 1-2 years.

Other than that, it’s like any other heating system!

Best regards.

Almost everything is described. Here, the process is that you choose a gas supplier and sign a contract with them. They provide the tank, piping, possibly the meter, etc., handle inspection, maintenance, and refill the tank when it’s empty—possibly without any action required on your part. All of this is specified in the contract. Everything operates on a rental basis, so the effort required is very low. If the tank is obtrusive, an underground tank can also be chosen.

Hi, I also want to heat my house with liquid gas. My old supplier contract is expiring, and I want to choose a new supplier with a shorter contract term. The new supplier should also work on a rental price basis. Since I do not have my own gas tank, the new supplier would need to provide the gas tank as well. Can someone recommend a company that offers affordable prices and very good service? That would be very important to me. Thank you.

Hi everyone,

One important aspect is still missing here: According to my information, liquid propane gas is significantly more expensive than oil! Oil tanks are now quite affordable and don’t require major installation conditions.

Hello Dellino,

I’m also not happy about having to heat with oil...
I bought a house in a rural area where natural gas is not available. A pellet heating system is far too expensive to install, and other options are difficult since it’s not a new build. I’m not an expert, but (hopefully!) I can do the basic calculations, and if you convert to energy output, meaning kWh, and consider that one liter of oil provides about 10 kWh, while one liter of propane only provides 6.57 kWh (with a slightly lower price, currently around 70 cents versus 66 cents), propane is clearly more expensive! For me, it’s about 900 euros per year. This doesn’t even include the tank rental, which I didn’t consider once I saw those numbers. For 900 euros, I could buy two solid oil tanks of 1000 liters (264 gallons) each with no additional costs. Natural gas is about the same in energy content as oil. Of course, I’m basing these figures on information from the internet and for my location (Münsterland). If you have a supplier who offers propane at the same price as natural gas (but please do the math correctly!) and the tank rental is cheap enough to make it worthwhile, then you’re really lucky!

Best regards
