Hello,

a house with 2 apartments, each about 75-80 sqm (800-860 sq ft) plus a basement. The ground floor is currently being completely renovated. The heating system will also be replaced.

The company carrying out the work is offering a Brötje gas boiler with 24 kW (about 81,900 BTU/h). This is initially intended to heat only the ground floor and in the future also the apartment on the first floor when it becomes available with the right of residence.

No one can tell me anything about Brötje. There is also no company nearby that deals with it. I think it’s better to go with more well-known brands. But which ones? Viessmann, Remeha, Weishaupt, ATAG, Buderus, Vaillant...

Which one is the safest choice... and why?

Best regards,
Frankxxx

Without giving you a direct recommendation, Brötje has been around for over a hundred years and, in my opinion, is one of the well-established brands.
An important factor in choosing a system is what your plumber installs on a daily basis, since that is usually what they are familiar with and can help you with directly. Otherwise, you will often need to call the manufacturer’s service.

This is my wife’s house, which she just bought.
We don’t have fixed heating companies there yet for that reason. When I search for local partners on Brötje’s site, I find almost as many in the same area as with Viessmann. It’s Hannover city... there are more options than in our rural area.

I think we will first see how big the price difference actually is. I have started to feel more confident about Brötje.
You don’t hear much worse about them compared to other brands either.

Last year, we replaced our boiler and obtained three quotes. Coincidentally, these were also from three different manufacturers. The unit from Brötje was the most expensive, followed by Viessmann, and then Vaillant. The price difference between Viessmann and Vaillant was small, and in the end, we chose the boiler from Vaillant.

Ours is a Junkers, and it has been running without issues since 2017. It is easy to use.

Attached is the quote we received from our preferred manufacturer.
What do the experts think? 🙂

Document page with heating work: list of Vaillant components and prices.

Price and item list with quantities, description, unit and total prices; total €8,578.20.

Document with price overview and 8 contract clauses; final amount €10,208.06.

You don’t have a storage tank? Why not?
If you don’t, that’s fine—you’ll need the full capacity. If you do have a storage tank, the boiler is extremely oversized.

Is your old heating system still running? If so, please stay calm and gradually but steadily switch to a heat pump. The increase in gas prices from the time this thread was created until now should be a clear enough signal.
