Urs1988-131 May 2015 06:33Hello everyone,
My question is about using an exhaust hood despite having a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery.
Does anyone have experience with this?
The background is that with a mechanical ventilation system, using recirculation air is generally recommended. But what about exhaust air?
I want to make sure that dirt and odors stay outside.
Thank you very much for your information.

Nicole1981-113 Jun 2015 13:04Hi Urs 1988,
We also wanted a vented range hood but were convinced not to install one. These vented hoods exhaust a lot of air from the house. That air only comes back in through an open window, which is not efficient.
Now we are looking at which recirculating hood to buy. We prefer the Gutmann Campo, but we still have a meeting scheduled with a staff member.

Karl-Steffen-113 Jul 2015 15:37Hello,
We have a Siemens unit and it works perfectly. Our area—kitchen, dining, living room, plus gallery—is open. There are no issues with cooking odors.
When we have a party, for example on New Year’s Eve, I do notice some smells. But no extractor hood could have handled something like that.
Best regards

Thank you very much for your information and the lively exchange.
I will reconsider making the purchase.
Although a recirculating hood can indeed offer quite a few benefits.
Many thanks.
