I am currently renovating my terrace and now I’m trying to decide which new decking material I should choose.
I have narrowed it down to aluminum decking boards because, in my opinion, the advantages outweigh those of WPC/BPC or wooden decking boards.
No splinters.
Does not get as hot as WPC/BPC.
Does not discolor (a very important point for me since my terrace is partly covered).
The aluminum boards are warp-resistant.
Additionally, they are UV-resistant and not sensitive to scratches thanks to a special powder coating.
These advantages are stated, more or less, by several suppliers.
Now to my question:
Does anyone have experience with aluminum decking boards?
Are they recommended, or should I rather go with WPC/BPC?

However, I have never actually seen these types of boards. Personally, I prefer wood—solid, natural, and simply "nicer" in terms of appearance and feel for me.

Bianco Nero24 Jul 2019 14:45Yes, you are right, the price is higher than for wooden floorboards. That is definitely a disadvantage.
Aluminum expands significantly when exposed to heat, although more uniformly than wood.
We discussed this issue with the facade builder a few days ago...
Everything is CNC milled, and the mounting holes are made larger to allow for material movement. Then, rivets or screws with larger heads are used to cover the holes.
Can you name some suppliers? This sounds interesting. I have never seen this used for decking before.
