Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and hope to get some help here.

We are building this year and are currently looking into flooring options.
We were offered the following product:

Sipa Floor 3-layer country plank
15/4 x 220 x 2200 mm (0.94 x 8.7 x 86.6 inches) rustic oak, white oiled

I have since found out that the company Silver Trade no longer exists.
Can anyone still tell me something about the quality of this product (and possibly the original price)?
Thank you very much!

@ Sigi:
With due respect, there is no need for any objection here, as I have
- neither specified any upper limits
- nor claimed that there is no connection between the thermal resistance and suitability for underfloor heating.

The technical relationship—something we both understand as professionals—arises from the calculation formula of thermal conductivity (or heat transfer coefficient). Therefore, the thickness of the material plays a decisive role in its thermal resistance.
However, let’s not confuse the straightforward questioner.
A 13mm (0.5 inch) thick multilayer parquet, regardless of the installation method, is very likely suitable for hydronic underfloor heating systems (including, for completeness, special cases like electric heating systems).

You are right, the main point for the questioner is that the floor is suitable for underfloor heating, if it is present at all. We probably agree on the surface.
Looking forward to good cooperation, and a warm welcome from me as well.

Best regards, Sigi

First of all, thank you for the responses!

I understand that the wear layer should be at least 4 mm (1.6 inches) thick and that the multilayer hardwood flooring (LHD) should preferably not be glued down (we have underfloor heating).
Should the two lower layers be made from a specific type of wood?
How long does the "white oiled" effect typically last? Can the appearance be maintained or extended with particular care or maintenance?
Thanks and best regards.

Personally, I recommend gluing, especially when you have underfloor heating.

This cannot be answered definitively, as every manufacturer prefers a different method. You can find information about the construction in the manufacturer’s guidelines.

I would answer yes to that. There are soaps with white pigments that make maintenance easier. However, it is important to only use care products recommended by the manufacturer.

According to the DIN standard, the wear layer must be 2.5mm (0.1 inches) thick – otherwise, many manufacturers would have a hard time.
