Hello Dear Forum,

I am from Switzerland and have just started my second year of apprenticeship.

I am struggling with exposed brickwork and just can’t seem to get faster. I would appreciate any tips from you on how to build walls more quickly and accurately.

I have a lot of trouble with the corners of the brickwork and sometimes with alignment (I use a corner string line). Corner: I hold the spirit level straight on the first two courses, and it is plumb. Then, when laying the next courses and adjusting the front and side corner faces by moving the bricks, it always becomes crooked, and I don’t understand why. I have another course in a few weeks, and I really want to achieve a good grade. Please help me.

Here, there are only know-it-alls and academics. Don’t trust any bricklayers.

The best option is definitely to ask a bricklayer in your local area who can personally show you how it’s done. Here you will only get at most a few helpful written answers. However, you won’t really learn that way...

Are we just going to jump out of the frying pan into the fire for the original poster?
In the green forum, you might find more bricklayers – but also more know-it-alls that you have to be able to tolerate first.

Hello, why not ask your colleagues...?
