ᐅ Experience with Talux or similar systems (GRF system)

Hello everyone,

I want to install terrace slabs / ceramic tiles on pedestals on my balcony. I need to compensate for about 20cm (8 inches) of height. So far, I have always thought to place them directly on the pedestals. However, I believe that a more robust substructure would be better for stability reasons.

I keep coming back to the Talux system or the "GRF system." The Talux system with aluminum profiles seems very reasonable to me. The GRF system offers a completely closed surface as a substructure.

Has anyone had experience with either of these systems or with the option of laying directly on pedestals? What is the typical price range?

Best regards,
Chris

We ordered the system from Talux and, despite the high price, we are very happy with our decision. The system is extremely stable, easy to install, and the panels fit perfectly. The edge profiles, which close the system all around, are particularly noteworthy. You might also want to take a look at the systems from Gutjahr or Proline for your project. All systems are good and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Hello everyone,

interesting post! I have two rather large balconies here, both insulated and then sealed with a waterproof membrane. To achieve the most stable substructure for the patio slabs, I also favored the Talux system and requested a quote from Talux. I made a clear sketch, described my desired installation pattern—perfectly prepared, so to speak. Unfortunately, I have not received any response from Talux for three months, and multiple attempts to contact the company by phone have also failed. Does Talux even still exist, or are they close to closing down / insolvency? Apparently, they don’t want to sell anything, and my motivation to buy from them is quite low due to the bad experience.

So my question is: Are there any good alternatives to Talux?

Best regards,
Benjamin

I also sent a sketch to Talux recently. I got a quote very quickly, but no sketch or installation plan. When I asked, I was told “the system is self-explanatory.” I find that a bit disappointing... The price is certainly not cheap either!

Hello Benjamin!
As it turned out in your case, we prepared and sent you a corresponding quotation with all details two days after your request on 23.4, but it ended up in your spam folder, which is unfortunately out of our control. We then sent the offer again by email on 18.8 upon your inquiry. In general, it’s always a good idea to send us another message in such cases, as we are only human and sometimes may forget something.

I built my new terrace using the Talux system and installed ceramic tiles measuring 80cm by 80cm (31.5 inches by 31.5 inches). The system is very easy to work with and simple to assemble. I am very satisfied with the result. The system is not more expensive than others on the market (GS, Gutjahr, Trias), but it offers advantages with its edge profiles and powder-coated surface. Nowadays, there are many different systems available to meet various requirements. Doing research beforehand is definitely worthwhile.

Hello everyone,

I still owe a follow-up here. After checking in again with Talux, the offer arrived very quickly. However, on the first attempt, there was definitely nothing in the spam folder, which I naturally checked. It might be that my email program filtered the message out immediately, although that doesn’t happen often. But it doesn’t matter now, since the offer is here. You just have to be aware that there is no phone support, which is not completely critical.

Best regards

Benjamin
