We are considering using a pleated blind instead of a frosted glass panel for the main bathroom. We would do the same for the window in the hallway (about 2m high) (6.5 feet).

We are unsure about the disadvantages of pleated blinds.

There are also many ways to fix a pleated blind... We don’t want to drill into the window. Clamping it between the window and the frame (in my opinion) is not ideal either, as it may no longer be properly sealed at that point. I’m also uncertain about how durable adhesive mounting brackets are.

Unfortunately, none of our acquaintances have pleated blinds.

Have you had any experience with pleated blinds? If yes, what kind? What have your experiences been with different installation methods?

Thank you!

I can only recommend pleated blinds... for our condominium, we had a professional come who measured all the windows and also had great ideas regarding color, etc. We also use a pleated blind in the bathroom with a glass block window, and we find it more attractive. The price was reasonable as well... I believe the bathroom (standard window) with installation was around 80 euros (about 85 USD). Gluing was not recommended to us; our supplier offered it for a while but had to keep doing repairs. We drilled the mounts instead… you can fill the holes (about 2mm) afterward, so they are hardly visible or not at all.

In response to the question in #4: If I need privacy in the bathroom, I don’t use a movable pleated blind. Either I need privacy (then I prefer space-saving frosted glass – there are some nice options!) or I don’t need any (then I don’t install anything). That’s just my personal either-or approach...
