Hello,
I have been a silent reader in this forum for a while now.
A brief overview of our project:
We plan to build a single-family house using timber frame construction. The plot is on a hillside (Lake Constance, 400 m (1,312 ft) from the lake). The basement will be solid brick/concrete, and 1.5 upper floors should be constructed with the aforementioned method. The climate is very warm in summer, with rather humid conditions in autumn and winter.
As a tradesperson, I am now familiar with almost all types of construction (timber frame, solid brick, log cabin construction, etc.). Unfortunately, I lack experience with the mentioned construction method.
My questions:
Does the structure settle over time? How is the airtightness, considering no membranes such as vapor barriers or similar are installed on the structure?
The roof structure will be visible, with external roof insulation.

It would be great to receive some information about this type of construction. Alternatively, log cabin construction is also an option.

Regards

Hello, Saw,

I'm bringing up your post again.
How did you finally decide back then?

We are in a similar situation and are torn between log cabin construction (unfortunately, the logs are glued) and cross-laminated solid wood walls.
For the latter, only MHM, Holz100 (Thoma), and nurHolz products are considered.
There is also the "Swedish wall," but the boards there are glued together as well.

I would be glad to learn how you decided.

Thanks in advance
