Hello everyone, we are currently planning and considering options for our bathroom. We have space from wall to wall for a vanity unit that is 2.20 meters wide (7 feet 3 inches). Illuminated niches are planned in the side walls on the right and left.
We have been thinking about a white vanity cabinet with a total of six drawers (80-40-80). On top, a wooden countertop made by a carpenter with two vessel sinks, positioned so that there is still plenty of space in the middle of the countertop. We prefer vessel sinks from Alape. Instead of wall-mounted faucets, we want relatively tall faucets with levers on top, placed behind the sinks. A large mirror will cover the entire width, with recessed ceiling spotlights.
However, we have heard from many people that vessel sinks are quite impractical, everything gets wet all the time, and they are not that great overall. What are your experiences? What would you do with this 2.20-meter (7 feet 3 inches) space?
Thanks for your comments!

We have a 1.60m (5 ft 3 in) countertop basin, arranged asymmetrically, so that there is plenty of counter space on one side.

Peanuts7419 Sep 2016 07:40So far, I’ve had the rather annoying experience several times in hotels of dealing with one of those round vessel sinks. In a hotel, I didn’t mind the splashing as much since I could wipe away the worst with the towel, which was changed daily anyway.
At home, I definitely never wanted one, even though you can style them quite nicely.
The best option still seems to be the good old semi-recessed sinks in the right size, but unfortunately, they’re not modern at all.
After a few tests, we decided on rectangular sinks. You still need a bit of care when rinsing to avoid water splashing over the edges, but it’s nothing compared to all the round sinks I’ve seen and experienced so far...

You should make sure that the spouts in such basins extend well into the basin to prevent water from splashing over the edge. In our case, they only extend 5cm (2 inches), which is too little. I will change that. With the lever on top, you can already position the faucet close to the basin. So it should fit.
