Hello,
we want to finance three planned measures through a KFW loan. This seems like a reasonable idea given the initial interest-only period and the current interest rates.
While we are still waiting for an offer from Nerv, we are reviewing this application. I’m taking the liberty to share a link here. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to do that, but since KFW is not a company I would be promoting here, I hope that’s okay. If it’s not allowed, I apologize.
Now, it seems that the planned measures must be inspected by an expert. Are we correct in understanding that these experts MUST come from this list of energy efficiency specialists? We have already accessed the list and found several "experts" nearby. So far, so good. But who covers the cost for these experts? Presumably, we do? How much does such an inspection typically cost? And how thorough is the assessment? Are there multiple on-site visits, or is it more like “just show your cost estimate and that’s sufficient”? How long does it usually take to get such an expert evaluation? Is it about the same wait time as for a contractor?
Also, when submitting this KFW application through the house bank, can you tell us approximately how long it takes until approval? Three days, three weeks, closer to three months, or would even three months be optimistic?
Thank you!

I will call the two initially targeted experts again tomorrow to ask.
But if your costs of 2,500 euros already include about 200 euros for the expert, then for around 12,000 euros it would be about 1,000 euros? I think that’s quite a lot.
However, I would also be very interested in experiences regarding the timeline with KfW!

Misphrased. You will probably receive a different subsidy than I did.
I have investment costs of around €12,500 (approximately $13,500). In any case, I am getting a subsidy of €2,500 (about $2,700).
Honestly, I don’t understand how anyone wouldn’t want to invest a small amount upfront to receive a substantial subsidy afterwards.
My process: I contacted an energy consultant, who gathered everything necessary. I submitted the application online to KfW (the development bank), the invoice was issued, and the approval was sent to me.
Everything went pretty quickly.
