Hello,

Is it worth going around and asking the neighbors of undeveloped plots about the owners?

We have been searching in rural areas for a year, and there are no plots on the market even though there are many building gaps.

Yes. And acquaintances, colleagues, etc., ask or at least mention that you are looking. For example, at a birthday party, we somehow started talking about the topic, and suddenly one of my closest longtime friends said, "Wait a moment... I think my parents have a plot of land they don’t need. I’ll ask them" (we also know the parents well). We got such a nice piece of land at a bargain price, without it ever being advertised anywhere or anything like that.

This is often how it works in rural areas.

Asking clearly doesn’t cost anything! It’s unbelievable how many plots of land are still privately owned even though there is demand.

We acquired our plot in exactly the same way. Through acquaintances, we learned that their friends are currently building and that the seller of their plot might still have another one available. So we contacted the builders directly, who then followed up with the seller. Shortly after, we had our first conversation.

I would always recommend, especially in new development areas, to simply ask around.

That surprises me a bit.
In rural areas, everyone knows each other and also what they are (and what they are looking for).
That’s how it should be: a shooting club, sports club, integration, and enrichment of the village community — then everything will work out.

We found our plot of land the same way. Definitely give it a try and don’t be shy.
