Hello everyone,

In our new build, the screed recess for our fireplace kit was initially made too small. After raising a complaint, it was expanded as shown in the pictures. As a layperson, it looks rather "makeshift" to me, but I could be wrong, so I would like to hear your opinions on this.

What stands out is that the recess extension was apparently done with a different screed material, possibly concrete screed, instead of calcium sulfate screed.

Is this a "normal" and "safe" procedure? Can we confidently place our fireplace on the extended recess without worrying about the extension breaking? What should we watch out for, and do we need to raise another complaint here?

Thank you very much for your assessment.

Best regards,
Seol

I believe the post would be better suited in the "Screed / Floor Coverings and Parquet" section, so I would like to move it there, see: https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/erweiterung-der-estrichaussparung.26376/
