Hello,

are downdraft ventilation systems at the stove effective? There are systems that have an exhaust built in between the cooking zones. Who has experience with these? Advantages? Disadvantages? Recommendations?

Thank you.

It should not be overlooked that recirculation systems require a 20-minute (!) run-on time to allow the activated carbon filters to dry and prevent mold growth (this likely also applies similarly to updraft extractor hoods).

For example, Bora states in the extraction system documentation:

"After each use, when operating in recirculation mode, run the cooktop extractor at a low setting for about 20 minutes or activate the run-on function."!

(this probably applies similarly to updraft extractor hoods as well).

This is not the case for all recirculation hoods. Our Berbel has an integrated after-run time of only 10 minutes during recirculation mode.
