ᐅ Is the interior coating of the exhaust duct asbestos-containing?

Hello everyone,

While replacing the ventilation in my guest bathroom, I noticed a strange coating on the inside of the pipe. The pipe itself appears to be made of plastic. However, inside there are cement-like remnants. These are gray, porous, and unevenly distributed. I am now concerned whether this material stuck to the inside of the pipe could contain asbestos.

The house was built in 1978. I am not sure if this area has been renovated.

Could someone possibly tell me what this material might be and why it was applied? Should I have it inspected?

Asbestos is a fibrous silicate – so it should look different from the outset...

I would consider this to be a deposition of sludge formed from dust and condensate.

I do not consider asbestos and mold assessments, as well as structural analysis and load-bearing capacity, suitable based on photo inspections.

Carefully remove a small sample and send it to a laboratory. Which one and where can be found by searching online.
