Good morning everyone,
I am currently considering how to solve the shading issue on the south side of my house (living/dining/kitchen area).
Length = 11 m (36 feet)
Terrace depth = approximately 3-4 m (10-13 feet)
A glass roof with a retractable awning underneath is the classic solution, but do you have any other ideas?
I’m also thinking about whether I should install external venetian blinds on the ground floor south side at all.
Thanks for your input! 🙂

As it stands, approximately €9,500 (about $10,350). You can also expand it using a modular system, for example, adding extra screens at the front and sides. We will probably add another screen at the front, where it can currently be lowered. That will cost around another €2,000 (about $2,175).
And of course, it must be retracted during storms, but it works perfectly in windy conditions thanks to a zipper system. When I see our neighbor’s awning, which retracts at the slightest gust... it’s a huge difference. In terms of price, for an awning covering the same area (ours is 5.5 x 4.5 m (18 x 15 feet)), you pay about the same amount. The fabric can also be relatively easily replaced if needed. But with proper care, it’s definitely a long-term investment.
