We are currently looking for a kitchen for our new build, which is scheduled to start in 2021. Nothing extravagant. Our first two visits to kitchen showrooms resulted in prices of at least 15,000 euros (around $16,000 USD), plus the side-by-side refrigerator that we plan to buy ourselves.
We are a bit surprised that for just a few pieces of furniture and three appliances (dishwasher, cooktop with fan, oven) we have to pay at least 15,000 euros. The consultants actually expected around 20,000 euros. The countertop is not even ceramic but rather granite.
Are there other options to purchase an affordable kitchen?
Please don’t get me wrong. We could afford such a kitchen. We just don’t see why we should spend 20,000 euros on a few furniture pieces and appliances.

Well, the cost drivers have already been mentioned.
"Just" a cooktop with an integrated extractor... that’s definitely top-tier, regardless of the brand.
"Just" a granite countertop... again, there are more expensive materials than granite, but this still has a significant impact on the final price.
And also "just" two cabinets on the left and only tall cabinets on the right... that doesn’t make the kitchen cheaper either.
So I see the 15-20K as absolutely realistic for this setup. Which is not unreasonable if you expect quality. We have now contacted a few acquaintances in Poland. Such a project (without appliances) costs 40,000 zloty = under 9,000€.
We will reach out to a few companies in Poland.

A common approach is to purchase and install electrical appliances yourself. This way, we could afford mid to upper-range appliances without significant financial strain. Bertram100 schrieb:
Well, integrated appliances are indeed usually a bit more expensive than separate devices. Ikea offers an induction cooktop with extractor for 1600 euros, AEG does as well. Bosch has one for around 2000 euros (not entirely sure). There are also options at a lower price point than the very expensive "Bora" models. There is a large profit margin on electrical appliances. No major kitchen appliance from BSH costs more than €100 (approximately $110) to manufacture. The different pricing for various functions in sales is not reflected by high production costs. The more premium the kitchen appliances, the greater the room for negotiation.

Audi is a significantly higher quality brand than Mercedes (and similarly priced). Funny. Try sitting in a 15-year-old model from each brand. That will put your quality statement into perspective. Don’t be fooled by panel gaps and surface finish.

We will contact a few companies in Poland. Not a bad idea. Many of the furniture items sold here are manufactured in Poland. Just a tip regarding side-by-side and generally large new refrigerators: they now all have the condenser on the sides instead of at the back like before. For this reason, every manufacturer recommends leaving 10cm (4 inches) of space on both the left and right sides to allow air circulation and heat dissipation. If fully built-in without this clearance, you won’t enjoy the appliance for long.

Fully built-in units like that won’t perform well for long. This can also be ensured with cabinets. But thanks for the tip.
