Andreas946 Feb 2022 18:08Hello everyone,
We are planning to plaster our Ytong facade starting in April. Currently, we have the opportunity to buy reinforcement mesh from an acquaintance at a good price.
I would like to know from you if this mesh is suitable for that purpose?
Excerpt from the datasheet:
- Material type: E-glass
- Areal weight: 135 g/m² (4 oz/ft²)
- Warp: 272 tex, 9 mm (0.35 inches) mesh size, 1700 N/5 cm (96 lb/in), elongation at break 3.8%
- Weft: 600 tex, 10.5 mm (0.41 inches) mesh size, 1600 N/5 cm (90 lb/in), elongation at break 3.8%
It would also be interesting to hear how much you pay per m² for similar mesh. We were offered it on a 100 m (330 ft) roll for 55 cents/m².
Can anyone provide an expert opinion on this reinforcement mesh?
We would appreciate your feedback.

It would also be interesting to know how much you pay per square meter for the mesh fabric. We were offered it on a 100 m (330 ft) roll for 55 cents per m² (55 cents per sq ft). What kind of savings are we talking about? 15 cents per square meter? So for 100 m² (1000 sq ft), that’s an impressive 15 euros. Buy it and get a pizza with the savings.

Normally, “we” don’t buy mesh fabric ourselves but have professionals apply the render. But it shouldn’t cost more than 70-80 cents per m² (70-80 cents per sq ft) if you look for mesh fabric for ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems).

Of course, this isn’t a huge amount of money saved, but in current times, every bit helps. Fundamentally, this is about the assessment. Do you have experience with this, or are you just looking at the price?
