Hi everyone,
we are planning to install two large lift-and-slide door units in the living area during the house construction.
However, I am wondering if it is even possible to integrate insect screens with this type of door.
With hinged doors, there are often options like swing doors or retractable panels. How does this work with lift-and-slide doors? Does anyone have experience with this?
Best regards, David

That sounds great. Initially, it was most important for me to find out that it is even possible. The rest will follow later.

I would not only install sliding doors but also windows with fly screens. This will provide 100% protection.

Shutter manufacturers, such as Roma, offer an integrated solution within the shutter box for pulling down, sometimes also available as a retrofit option (which is likely more expensive than ordering it together initially).

Also, with shutters (for a 3m (10 feet) width, usually divided into two parts), consider whether they should be controlled separately. This way, in summer, the fixed part with the shutter can be closed while the door section remains accessible.

Just slide the sliding door open. That’s what it’s designed for. Otherwise, the house will get hot anyway during the summer.

Pleated doors could be an option.

Putting that aside, a decent quality fly screen version costs a significant amount of money. I believe for our 4.5m (15 feet) lift-and-slide door, it was around 500-600€.
