Thomas_TS3 Jun 2017 21:30Hello everyone,
I am currently planning my house. It is located on a street with a slight slope.
The plot has a length of 18.5 meters (61 feet) facing the street, with an elevation difference from the highest to the lowest point of 0.92 meters (3 feet).
The entrance of the house would be 8 cm (3 inches) above street level. A gutter is being installed in front of the entrance as a precaution.
Now to the main issue:
The double garage is placed next to the house for "sunlight reasons." I am concerned that the driveway, as it is currently designed (see attachment), might be too steep. The garage door is 5 meters (16 feet) wide. The architect has currently planned the following height differences (from the garage driveway to the street):
Left side outer edge: 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) height difference at 6 meters (20 feet) distance to the street → 8.33% or 4.76 degrees slope
Middle: 0.35 meters (1.1 feet) height difference at 5.8 meters (19 feet) distance → 6.03% or 3.45 degrees slope
Right side: 0.2 meters (8 inches) height difference at 5.5 meters (18 feet) distance → 3.63% or 2.08 degrees slope
What do you think? Am I worrying unnecessarily? Do you have any suggestions for improvement?

Thomas_TS3 Jun 2017 21:44My concern is that the driveway might be too steep for everyday use. When I drive around my town, I mostly see driveways with gentler slopes.
Another idea was to set the house 5cm (2 inches) lower and the garage 10 (or 15) cm (4 or 6 inches) lower. This would reduce the driveway slope by about 3% at each section.

The slope of the driveway is suitable for walkers (rollators). I would rather consider another detail: namely the massive parapet of the garage. That’s a Waigel-Braue.

I definitely want to design it more subtly. I am already driving around looking for a similar driveway with the same inclines.
