Hello,

we are considering building a single-family house and are currently gathering information.
We want a very simple heating system, specifically a gas boiler with underfloor heating.
So far, I have visited three construction companies and have always been told that I cannot install just a gas boiler because, according to energy regulations, at least 20% of the energy must come from renewable sources. Therefore, in addition to the gas boiler, a solar system, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, or a completely different heating technology (pellet heating, heat pump) must be used.
Is it really true that I am legally required to meet this 20% requirement? Even if I do not want to apply for any subsidies or incentives?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Best regards

It is described quite well here: search for "Renewable Energies Heat Act"
Usage obligation and compensatory measures.
Using biogas could be interesting for you, as it can fulfill the requirements and no further measures would then be necessary.

Best regards,
Sebastian
