In our new build, I have discovered many tiny creatures that, according to my research, are booklice. They are present in every room. My wife has hygiene concerns, and I have read that these insects mainly breed in damp buildings.

How can I get rid of the booklice? Should I use the dehumidifier again?

I also think that these booklice can be found everywhere. They simply go unnoticed most of the time. Using a dehumidifier can remove the moisture, thereby eliminating the environment these insects need to survive. I am convinced that this pest can also cause health issues.

My daughter moved into a newly built apartment, and there were these insects there as well. The building wasn’t properly dried after construction. These little creatures are so tiny that you hardly notice them. They are basically harmless, but they can cause problems for people with allergies.

Chemical treatments usually only provide a short-term solution. In this case, building drying was necessary. They did that, and now these critters are gone.

I have been living in a newly built house for 2 years, and we have booklice... The building was not properly dried out... The pest control technician has been here three times already, but it only helps for a few months, then the booklice are everywhere in the apartment again... I have asthma and a lung condition as well. Do the booklice affect my health? How do you get rid of these pests permanently? What needs to be done?

Hello,

We moved into our new build in October. Shortly after, we noticed small bugs everywhere.
After 4 weeks of heating and ventilating, we called a pest control professional.

They identified the insects as yeast beetles (which are said to be similar to booklice) and assured us they could eliminate them.

After 4 treatments with short-term insecticides, the situation improved, but the beetles are not gone, and new ones appear daily.

We have observed that the beetles come out from the edge insulation strip of the screed.

We are looking for someone with experience in this matter who can share their knowledge with us.

Thank you very much

I also noticed them everywhere in our new build when we first moved in. I often saw some on the walls and was a bit worried too.
For us, the problem was gone after the first winter. The moisture had probably just dried out of the walls by then.
