Hello everyone,

I’m building a solid brick house, and so far, the electrical cables for each floor have been laid through conduit pipes on the precast concrete floor slabs.
Now the roof structure is finished, and the roof has been covered.

I’m wondering what options there are for running cables in the attic space (not the loft!).

Well, maybe “options” isn’t quite right, since there are countless ways

But what would you recommend / what is the standard approach here?

a) Run cables through conduit pipes under the screed to all locations (this wouldn’t be a problem, I have an opening where I could route all the cables).

b) Run all cables somehow through the roof structure and then bring them out at all locations from the ceiling? This would mean everything would have to go through the drywall and OSB panels of the roof structure.

I’ve attached two pictures to give a better idea of the situation.

Picture ele1 shows a spot where the socket positions are already marked in pink below.

Best regards & have a great weekend,

What is your goal? Do you want to finish it right away or at some point later? What is the reason not to proceed upstairs the same way as downstairs?

So the attic space will have the option to add some empty conduits easily.
However, I am referring to the top floor, the floor directly below the attic.

This floor will be fully finished with three bedrooms and one bathroom.

What speaks against proceeding at the top in the same way as at the bottom?

How would you route the empty conduits in this case? Simply through the OSB board, insulation, and drywall? Are there any example pictures available?

The photos are confusing because you included the attic. I assume you mean the upper floor/first floor?

You simply go through the existing ceiling opening into all the rooms. If you have a ventilation system, it would be sensible to coordinate with the plumbing company about how they will lay their pipes. It can get tight if everything has to pass through one doorway. Insulation and screed will be added on top. On the wall, grooves are cut just like downstairs. If OSB boards are not yet installed, pull a cable in a small loop at the spot.

Alternatively, you can run 10mm² (7 AWG) or 16mm² (5 AWG) cables upstairs to a separate distribution box.
