Hello everyone,
The house construction will start soon. Can anyone estimate how much the earthworks will cost or share their experience? How is it usually calculated?
The building site is in Bavaria, 160 sqm (1720 sq ft) plus basement, double garage (not basemented), with what appears to be normal soil at first glance.

A basement (excavation)?
With material, for example for the crane setup area, the surface for the foundation slab?Yes, a basement.
The material is included in the fixed price of the general contractor.

Many turnkey homes often include a line item for earthworks, aggregate base, and similar tasks. However, this varies from one GC to another.
Our additional cost (without a basement) is around €10,000 but includes construction road, wastewater and stormwater drainage up to the handover shafts, and so on. Not included in the house price were: extra earthworks due to the sloped site, a larger excavator needed because of soil type with stones, more aggregate base, excavation for a double garage next to the house, aggregate base for the construction road and later garage subbase, and all the piping: water, wastewater, empty conduits for utilities, etc.

To what extent did your extra work related to the slope involve?

Mottenhausen8 Apr 2019 23:30That’s hard to say, as there is always just one item for extra excavation and additional materials, with part of it allocated for the garage, part for extending the shafts, and part for extra effort compared to the construction specifications. The slope on our site is relatively mild, with about 0.80m (31 inches) difference in elevation along the length of the house. However, we had a very "favorable" soil report, which basically stated: "Remove topsoil, then just scrape away the loose material, that’s sufficient." There are also soil reports where you first have to excavate 1.20m (47 inches) deep, regardless of the planned height of the house.
