Hello everyone,

Before moving into our house, we installed smooth non-woven wallpaper and painted it with a wall paint that we considered to be good (Herbol Zenit Power). We decided against painting directly onto smooth plaster because we expected a better finish.

The appearance is indeed nice, but the walls are incredibly sensitive. They react to touch almost like a blank sheet of paper. The slightest contact from hands leaves a visible grease mark, and touching with clothing, bags, or similar items (in the hallway) leaves gray or colored streaks. Despite having a paint with a good wet abrasion rating, these stains basically cannot be removed. For example, a few days ago a bag fell against the wall and left a gray mark immediately. These stains can be removed with a magic sponge, but the affected areas then look visibly “smooth,” which is not an ideal solution either.

Now, after just under a year, we have to repaint large parts of the house (children’s rooms, hallway, kitchen, staircase, living room, bathrooms). We are considering using different products for the paint this time. We were advised against latex paint (due to the breathability of the walls). Are there other options to make the walls more resistant to dirt?

I look forward to your tips and ideas.

Best regards,
Julian
