ᐅ Walk-in closet with or without built-in wardrobes

Hello everyone,

We moved into our new house at the beginning of July. At the moment, we have our old wardrobe set up in our walk-in closet.

Now I am wondering for the future whether we should get a wardrobe again or go for an open concept.

What are your experiences with dust settling on clothes?

The walk-in closet has a sliding door to the bedroom and a vent connected to our central ventilation system.

Does this help reduce dust buildup, or does it not matter whether there is a door and ventilation?

Best regards

It definitely requires a bit more space, but I find it much more convenient to hang the T-shirts. One advantage is that I tend to declutter more often, because all the T-shirts are equally visible instead of some ending up at the bottom of a pile and being ignored forever.

We also have open Pax wardrobes in the dressing room, have been living in the house for 9 months, and so far have had no issues with dust accumulation. Clothes are partly hung on hangers, partly folded on shelves, and partly stored in drawers.

Therefore, I follow Kondo’s folding method and stand the items upright in the drawers. That way, I can see everything at a glance, and it takes up significantly less space than regular stacking or hanging. So, if you have a lot of stuff, this is a real alternative...

I don’t really see the difference with my many black T-shirts, and items that require more ironing do tend to suffer a bit from the folding.

I’m just saying, everyone should do it however they like.
I think it’s great, and I don’t have to iron anything since you don’t smooth out the creases with your fingers.
You can also fold the shirts so that part of the print remains visible. I do that for my child as well, so they can find what they’re looking for.

First of all, thank you for the many opinions shared here. I will try the suggestion of removing the doors as a test.
