Hello everyone,
We moved into our new house at the beginning of July. At the moment, we have our old wardrobe set up in our walk-in closet.
Now I am wondering for the future whether we should get a wardrobe again or go for an open concept.
What are your experiences with dust settling on clothes?
The walk-in closet has a sliding door to the bedroom and a vent connected to our central ventilation system.
Does this help reduce dust buildup, or does it not matter whether there is a door and ventilation?
Best regards

There is no way to counter this with rational arguments. Especially when I "mansplain" something, it only leads to more resistance in her mind. Then she thinks I consider her stupid.
That’s why: pain helps understanding... She has to gain her own experience, and I will bite my tongue when the damage is done and she just ends up buying a cabinet...

That’s very kind of you, @Tolentino 😉
We have now agreed to go for an open wardrobe system for our walk-in closet, combined with sliding doors. This way, potential mess can be hidden and dust or sunlight kept out, while still maintaining a light and airy dressing area.
Maybe this compromise could be interesting for you as well. Many online stores offer custom-made sliding doors for walk-in closets – we have now made our decision. The wardrobe system can also be reused elsewhere if we ever need the room for a different purpose.

I can recommend the hybrid model: We have a wardrobe with sliding doors, but out of laziness, we always leave one side open. This way, you still have the hassle of sliding the doors, but everything inside stays dust-free and doesn’t fade. Both sides get what they want.
It’s the perfect compromise!

We chose an open closet system (Ixxx). The dressing room window is only tilted open early in the morning or at night during midsummer. In front of it, there is a mesh screen and the window blinds. These are kept fully closed during the day. So far, nothing has faded, the items smell fresh, and access is convenient. Perfect for us.
