Dear Home Building Forum,
my partner and I strongly disagree about the layout of our walk-in closet. The original floor plan does not include a door to the bathroom. My partner really wants to add an entrance to the bathroom, but I am concerned that this will make it difficult to fit enough wardrobes. What are your opinions? Should we install the door or leave it out?
Best regards, Carolin

Personally, I would omit the doors because I’m not a fan of having multiple doors leading to the same room (especially not with 2 meters (6.5 feet) distance between them), and the walk-in closet already takes up quite a bit of space for the passage to the bedroom.
Others would find it unacceptable to have to pick out their clothes and carry them through the hallway to the bathroom before showering (or walk through the hallway in a bathrobe).

I objectively consider this room a design flaw for a walk-in closet (probably a window above the entrance, yes, everything symmetrical, etc.)… simply hardly suitable for proper furnishing as a dressing room. It is more appropriate as a nursery or laundry room.
My advice is to take a closer look at the entire design. The issue here is _not_ just about one door! If this thought is bothering both of you so much, there are many more such mistakes.

I would like to understand how the storage plan is meant to work. What is supposed to go in? How many linear meters of closet space are planned, and where? Even without access to the bathroom, I don’t see more than about 5 m (16 feet) of space. And for that, it is quite a large room. If the rest of the house is equally spacious, that makes sense. If the bedroom is only 9 sqm (97 sq ft), then it doesn’t.
